| The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites (3-0) got things rolling last weekend, defeating the visiting Yarmouth-Dennis Junior Dolphins, 39-14. Quarterback Hayden Murphy drew first blood with a fine rushing touchdown, followed with touchdowns by Derek Pacheco, Marcus Cunningham, Darien Kaski, Brian Reid and Justus Chaffee. Pacheco also scored a two-point conversion and kicked one of the extra points. The Division 1 Pee Wees (2-1) followed with their second straigh shutout victory, 20-0, over the visiting Y-D squad, thanks to a 122-yard, two-touchdown performance by running back Tevin Hill. The Barnstable defense was particularly strong throughout the day, btu the real story was the Barnstable offensive line that opened up huge holes for the D1 Pee Wee running back through the affair. The offensive line consists of tight ends Nick Cincotta and Everett Walsh, guards Chris Lawler and Devin Broadley, tackles Damian Johnson and Zach Stevens and the anchorman at center, Cam Crocker. Charlie Rice had a solid day running the ball as well, tucking one touchdown under his blet on a nifty pass from quarterback Damon Blake. Blake went 4-4 on the day passing for 55 yards with one TD and a two-point conversion to Walsh. In other Silver Bullets action, the Division 5 Mites (1-2) picked up their first win of the season, a 20-0 shutout of host Middleboro, with Ryan Leonovich scoring two touchdowns and Brendan Bindig another. The Division 5 Pee Wees (1-2) also picked up a big win Sunday at Middleboro, downing the hosts, 18-8. No further information was available. |
