Barnstable Silver Bullets Div. 5 Pee Wees Down Hanover

The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 5 Pee Wees (2-2) picked up their second win of the season Sunday at Hanover High School, defeating Hanover, 16-0.
After a fine defensive stand on their own goal line to stop a potential Hanover score, Manny Perry took off for a 95-yard touchdown run to make it 6-0, then followed with a two-point PAT conversion to make it 8-0, Barnstable.
Tedoro France then followed with a fine, 25-yard touchdown run of his own to make it 14-0. Bryan Hardy turned in the two-point PAT to finalize the scoring at 16-0.
Timmy Roderiques played quite well in the defensive backfield, picking one off for his first interception of the season.
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Pee Wees (2-2) lost a gut-wrenching, 12-6 affair last Saturday night at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field, after stopping Rockland three times on Barnstable’s own goal line and shutting Rockland down for three quarters. The Bullets’ had shut down their opponents for 11 consecutive quarters before giving way to Rockland on two touchdown runs. The Bullets stopped both two-point conversion runs late in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late as the Red & White offense could not get enough of a rhythm going to pound another one into the end zone.
Bullets’ running back Tevin Hill finished the day with 89 yards rushing and one touchdown. He had one 50-yard touchdown run called back due to holding.
Quarterback Damon Blake went 3-8 passing for 37 yards on the day and tossed his first interception of the season. Barnstable could only muster 11 plays on offense in the first half as it fumbled and lost the ball on four offensive stints. All totaled, the Bullets ran just 30 plays on offense, and had to endure 55 plays on the defensive side of the ball.
Damian Johnson recovered one fumble for the Bullets, while Damon Blake recovered a kickoff.
Everett Walsh collected 10 tackles (6 solo/8 assisted) on the day to pace the Barnstable defense, followed by a fantastic effort by noseguard Bob Melley who collected 7 tackles in all on the day (4 solo/6 assisted). Zach Stevens turned in 5 tackles, followed by Tevin Hill (3.0), Damian Johsnon (2.5), Rob Dombrowski (2.5), Curtis Collopy (2.0), Cam Crocker (2.0), Nick Cincotta (2.0), Dominique Tillman (1.5), Joe D’Olimpio (1.0), Kevin Hardy (1.0), Charlie Rice (1.0) and Stephen Huska (0.5). Charlie Rice made a beautiful run of about 50 yards to catch a would-be Rockland scorer late in the game and also turned in a couple of key blocks from the backfield and added a nice, 20-yard reception from Blake.
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites faltered Saturday afternoon, suffering defeat, 18-14, at the hands of visiting Rockland.
Brian Reid collected a beautiful, 50-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, while Darien Kaski picked up a touchdown and Matt Lambert picked up a two-point conversion in the early going. The Division 1 Mites now stand at 3-1 on the season.
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Midgets (1-3) fell to Rockland, 12-8, in the nightcap Saturday night at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field. In other Bullets’ news, the Division 5 Mites fell to Hanover, 8-0, to fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Division 5 Midgets (0-4) fell to Hanover, 6-0, in a hard-fought battle.
