Barnstable
Silver Bullets Fare Well Over Middleboro in Weekend Slate
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 5 Mites set the weekend’s
tone last Saturday night when it staged a come-from-behind tie versus
guest Middleboro at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field.
Down 6-0 with just over 1:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, Brendan
Bindig took a kickoff return 60 yards for a touchdown to tie the ballgame
at 6-6. Stymied all evening by a driving, bitter rain, the Bullets could
not punch in the two-point conversion, but did recover the ball with
an onsides kick to run the clock out and capture a tie. The Division
5 Mites are now 1-4-1 on the season and head to Hanover on Sunday, Oct.
30 to finish the regular season.
The Division 5 Pee Wees followed with
a huge victory over Middleboro in the middle game last Saturday night,
defeating their guests by a 6-0 margin. Tedaro France notched the Silver
Bullets’ sole touchdown on the day to help his team to an even,
3-3 record on the season. The Division 5 Pee Wees also head to Hanover
on Sunday, Oct. 30.
The Division 5 Midgets continued to struggle
but gave a valiant effort in a 16-0 loss to Middleboro in the final
game of the evening last Saturday. They head to Hanover this Sunday
in hopes of picking up their first win of the season. The Bullets are
now 0-6.
The first place Barnstable Silver Bullets
Division 1 Mites (5-1) had a solid output versus Middleboro at Battis
Field last Sunday afternoon, staging a 22-6 victory. Defensive end Hayden
Murphy scored the first defensive touchdown of his young career when
he ripped the ball out of the running back’s hands and raced 50
yards for the score. Darien Kaski had a banner day, punching in two
touchdowns thanks to some fantastic blocking. Derek Pacheco added a
pair of two-point conversions.
The Division 1 Pee Wees scored two touchdowns
within their first five offensive plays in one of their most efficient
efforts of the season, ending in a 28-6 win over host Middleboro.
Tevin Hill (9 carries, 90 yards) and Charlie Rice (4 carries, 63 yards,
108 yards total offense) each collected a pair of touchdowns to pace
the Silver Bullets, with Rice scoring on a nifty, 45-yard touchdown
pass from quarterback Damon Blake (1-2 passing, 45 yards). Rice and
Hill each added two-point conversion runs to their efforts.
Defensive ends Everett Walsh and Zach
Stevens led the way for the Barnstable defensive unit, each collecting
5.5 tackles on the day, followed by linebacker Tevin Hill (5.0 tackles),
noseguard Bobby Melley (4.0 tackles), cornerback Damon Blake (3.5 tackles)
and linebacker Rob Dombrowski (3.5 tackles). Cornerback Curtis Collopy
and safety Kevin Hardy each added a solid effort to the defense, with
Hardy garnering his first interception of the season.
Offensive guard Chris Lawler played arguably
his best overall game of the season with several key blocks that resulted
in long yardage.
The Division 1 Pee Wees now stand at
3-3 on the season heading into this Saturday night’s final regular
season game versus Scituate at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field.
The Division 1 Midgets gave everything
they had last Sunday versus host Middleboro, but fell 28-6. They now
stand at 1-5 on the season heading into Saturday night’s nightcap
at home versus Scituate.
Division
5 Pee Wees Stage Banner Victory Over Middleboro in Driving Rain
It was a cold
and raining night for the Bullets Division 5 Pee Wee’s. Playing
at home against Middleboro in a downpour the Bullets came away with
a tough 6-0 victory.
The rain coated football caused issues
for both teams throughout the game. The Bullets defense took advantage
of the wet ball when Andrew Falacci recovered a fumble (one of 2 he
recovered) at the 50 yard line with time running out in the first quarter.
This got the offense rolling. Following runs of 12 and 8 yards by Tedaro
France, a 22 yard run by Manny Perry, a 7 yard reception by Bryan Hardy
and a key 4th down quarterback sneak by Eric Rogorsenski the Bullets
where set up with first and goal from the 5 yard line. They took advantage
of the first and goal when following a key block from pulling guard
Steven Zeglen, France powered the ball into the end zone.
With the field conditions getting worse as the game went
on it was up the defense to take control of the game. It did the job
and for the 4th time in 6 games the Red – One defense threw a
shutout. Key plays were made across the board. Tackle Andrew Ellis was
a factor from sideline to sideline. Linemen Falacci, Tyler Kennedy,
Ryan Litchman ends Hardy, Mark Lambert (who also contributed an interception)
held fort. Key defense steps were also made by linebackers Jake Kipnes,
France, Perry and corner back Colby Blaze.
The offense did a great job at the end controlling the
ball for the last few minutes of the game preserving a physical, hard
fought game. Next up is a home game against Hanover on Sunday October
30th with a trip to the playoffs in the balance.
