| Div. 1 Mites Make It Eight Straight Regular Season Wins
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites finished the regular season undefeated with a sound, 20-0 win Sunday afternoon versus Dennis-Yarmouth at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field in Hyannis. The game was never in doubt as the D1 Mites utilized the entire depth of their roster. Eric Rogorzinski handled the bulk of the carries from both the running back position and quarterback spot. He scored the first and second touchdowns of the game, marking his first and second touchdowns of the season. Manny “TD” Perry scored a touchdown for the eighth consecutive game and Bryan Hardy ran out of the I formation to round out the scoring with a two point conversion. The 1st Team Defense was strong throughout the game and finished the season having given up only one touchdown all year. Middle linebacker Jake Kipnes and cornerback Gabe Destefano recorded sacks while Andrew Ellis lead the defensive line in controlling the line of scrimmage. The entire defensive unit has learned to play as a solid unit and continues to come up big each week. But this game was highlighted by the play of the bench with many players handling positions for the first time. Hannah Broberg, Darien Alves, Mike Dombrowski, David Hebenstreit, Kyle King, Steven Zeglin, Jonathan Eldredge and Frank McMaster all had plays on the defensive side of the ball for the first time this season. Gutsy Sean Cambell played safety, linebacker and also had a run out of the fullback slot. Tim Rodrigues and Pedro Alves were relentless at cornerback the entire second half. Colby Blaze has settled in nicely as the middle linebacker calling the plays for the second unit.
The postseason begins this weekend with the D1 Mites traveling
to Rockland on Saturday, Nov. 6, to play Marshfield at 5:00 p.m.
