The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites made won their seventh consecutive victory Saturday afternoon at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field with a convincing, 28-6 win over guest Scituate. The Defending Old Colony Youth Football League D1 Mites Superbowl Champions was led on offense by running back Tedero France who scored two long touchdowns. Tailback Manny Perry kept his consecutive touchdown streak alive with a score of his own. Fullback Brian Hardy registered his first rushing touchdown in the second quarter and has solidified the offense with his triple threat of blocking, running and receiving. The defense played their most consistent and dominant game of the year, with a host of tacklers in on virtually every hit in the game. The Captains led the way with the linebacking trio of Jake Kipnes, France and Tyler Kennedy consistently stuffing each run. Captain and noseguard Andrew Ellis led the defensive line and controlled the line of scrimmage for the entire first half. The biggest improvement may have been the play of the cornerbacks, Gabe Destefano and Colby Blaze have turned a position of concern into a strong point. Fellow cornerback Eric Rogerzinski added depth to the corner slot. Special Teams showed equal improvement, with kicker Mark Lambert paving the way and offering strong open-field coverage. This game also marked the fourth time in seven games that the red two offense and defense played the entire second half of the game. Running back Kelsey Medeiros had a long touchdown run called back late in the game, but it was the second time he reached the endzone in two weeks. The red two defense gave up one touchdown drive then closed the door on Scituate for the remainder of the game. Strong performances were turned in the linebacking crew of Colby Blaze, Anthony Debarros and Darryl Frie. Frank McMaster and Darren Alves got their first chance at defense and both registered a tackle.
It was a strong overall performance and the
Division One Mites look poised to Defend their title. |
