| Div. 1 Mites Handle Hanover in 28-10 Tilt
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites steamrolled another opponent Saturday Night with a 28- 10 win over Hanover. For the second game in a row, the first unit created a three-touchdown halftime lead and spent the second half cheering on the Red Two second unit. Runningback Manny Perry continued painting his season-long tapestry of touchdown scoring with two more scores on the day, including his fourth consecutive touchdown on four carries over a two-game span. Fellow running back extraordinaire Tedero France came through with another touchdown before the half to seal the deal. Tyler Kennedy plowed up the middle for a two-point conversion and quarterback Andrew Falacci hit tight end Bryan Hardy for their second PAT conversion in two weeks. The most exciting score of the day may have come when Red Two runningback Kelsey Medeiros scampered in for a 20-yard score in the third quarter against the Hanover starters. He was greeted by the entire team as they ran out on the field to congratulate the second unit's first score of the season. The defense was superb in the first half with captain Andrew Ellis and cornerback Gabe Destefano recording sacks and captain Jake Kipnes and Ryan Litchman making big hits in the backfield for losses as well. The entire unit has had a strong season giving up only one touchdown all year. Saturday may have been their most remarkable effort as they did not give up an offensive yard the entire first half. Mark Lambert found his kicking stride this week as well, giving the bullets another strong unit to rely on as the Special Teams played a flawless game. The Red Two Defense continued their strong play as well with Timmy Roderiques and Pedro Almeida shining at the corner position and Colby Blaze handling the calls at middle linebacker. The unit had another successful goal-line stand before giving up only their second touchdown of the season on Hanover's next possession. Noteworthy plays were turned in by Safety Sean Campbell delivering a loud hit on the sideline to prevent a big gain and Trevor “Little Fridge” Sayers crushing a Hanover running back to close off the middle of the line for the rest of the day. |
