| Div. 1 Mites make it Six Straight Over Guests
The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites made won their sixth consecutive victory Sunday morning at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field with a sound, 16-0 win over guest Marshfield. Running back Manny Perry scored two touchdowns to run up his year-to-date tally to 12, and fellow backfield member Tedero France punched in a pair of two-point conversions to seal the deal. But this game was not as pretty as it sounds. Hampered by more penalty yardage than yards gained, but they got more penalty yards then their offense produced. Perry would have had a third touchdown, but it was called back due to a clipping penalty, the offensive line collected five offsides infractions and the defense was called for roughing the kicker. In spite of the latter call, the defensive unit played fairly well with Colby Blaze and Gabe Destefano standing out in their slots at cornerback. The defensive line made going up the middle nearly impossible for Marshfield, forcing it to attempt the outside lanes, but the hard work of the Silver Bullets' cornerbacks, defensive ends and outside linebackers paid off with the team's third shutout this season. The Red Two Defense handled the fourth quarter and handled it well, keeping Marshfield at bay until the final whistle. Strong plays were turned in by Kelsey Medeiros at safety and defensive tackles Connor Fries and Chris Billings. The Bullets host Scituate this Saturday night, Oct. 23, at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field in Hyannis.
