Div. 1 Mites Manhandle Middleboro in 20-0 Rout

The Barnstable Silver Bullets Division 1 Mites maintained their unbeaten record Sunday, Oct. 3, at W. Leo Shields Memorial Field, notching 20 unanswered points in the first half before going on to a 20-0 shutout.

Tailback Manny Perry collected three touchdowns while fellow running back Tyler Kennedy punched in a two-point PAT conversion.

Much of the room given to Perry to ramble on was due to the fine blocking of fullback Bryan Hardy and a solid offensive line.

The second half was highlighted by the running exploits of back Kelsey Mederios who took picked up multiple long-yard gains with thanks to the fine blocking of Kenneth Barbosa, Hannah Broberg, Frank McMaster, John Richardson, Noah Lynch, Danen Alves and Jack Newton.

Barnstable's entire defense combined to shutout Middleboro, with noseguard Andrew Ellis playing a phenomenal first half exploding off the line of scrimmage and wrecking havoc with the Middleboro offense. Solid defensive efforts were turned in by linebackers Jake Kipnes, Tyler Kennedy and Tedaro France, as well as cornerbacks Colby Blaze and Gabe Destefano who rebounded from a tough Bridgewater game to close down the outside lanes.

Other solid defensive efforts featured Sean Campbell at safety, defensive ends Mark Russell and Jack Newton and corners Timmy Roderiques and Darryl Fries. The Division 1 Mites have given up one touchdown all season.

The Division 1 mites head to Hanover Saturday night for a 5 p.m. game.
